Two farmers killed in road mishap

Kancheepuram, July 3 (UNI) Two farmers were killed and seven others seriously injured when the vegetable-laden mini van in which they were travelling overturned after one of its tryres burst at Chinnaiyanchathiram, near here, today.

Police said the mini van, proceeding from Wallajahpet in Vellore district to the Koyambedu market in Chennai, overturned after one of its rear tyres burst.

The deceased were identified as P Kasi (45) and K Velu (40) of Wallajahpet. The seven injured were admitted to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital, two of whom were rushed to the Government Hospital in Chennai as their condition worsened.

Police arrested the mini van driver Venkatesan in this connection.
