Transporters strike begins
Nashik, Jul 3 (UNI) Indefinite strike of the goods transporters began here today.
Removal of the 12.26 per cent Service Tax, Toll Tax, equal prices of diesel, petrol across the country were some of the important demands of the striking transporters.
The strike began at 00:00 hrs.
''All in all 750 members from the city and 2,250 members from the district have participated in the strike. Due to it, 1,500 trucks, 250-300 tempos, 30 containers and 100 tankers from the city and 3,500 trucks from the district, will remain off-road,'' Nashik Goods Transport Association President Devkisan Pareek told UNI.
Being the first day, the effect would not be felt much. Vegetable supply would be affected later on, sources said by the common people.
