TN CM releases State's 11th five-year plan
Chennai, July 3 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and State Planning Commission Chairman M Karunanidhi today released the State's 11th five-year plan (2007-08 to 2011-12) with a plan outlay of Rs 85,344 crore.
State Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Prof M Naganathan presented the five-year plan report to the Chief Minister in the presence of other Commission members at the Secretariat, an official release here said.
The plan outlay for the 11th five-year plan was more than double the outlay of Rs 43,400 crore, fixed for the tenth five-year plan period.
The plan, which proposed to achieve nine per cent growth rate, laid special focus on agriculture. It fixed a four per cent annual growth target in the agriculture sector.
In the 11th five-year plan, the outlay for social sector had been increased to Rs 36,733 crore, followed by Rs 11,647 crore for road development, Rs 11,145 crore for agriculture, Rs 10,743 crore for the power sector and Rs 10,241 crore for rural industries, it said.
