SAD to select candidates for Zila Parishad Chairmen

Chandigarh, Jul 3 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal, MP, today said the decision regarding selection of candidate for the posts of chairmen and vice chairmen of Zila Parishads and presidents of various Municipal Committees and Nagar Panchayats will be taken by the party.

"The commitment, devotion, service, sacrifice and ability to deliver will be the main criterion for the selection to the above said posts," he said in a statement here.

Mr Badal said that no one will be allowed to take decision at his own, adding decisions by the party will be taken purely on merit.

For this purpose senior party leaders are being appointed as observers, he said. These observers will visit the concerned districts and hold meetings with the newly elected members of Zila Parishads and Municipal Committiees. They will gather their views.

They will also interact with the local senior leaders of SAD-BJP alliance and take their opinion also.

These observers have been directed to submit detailed reports by July 12. On the basis of their report the party will decide that who will be the party's candidate for the post of Zila Parishad Chairman or Vice Chairman and President of the Municipal Committee, Mr Badal said.
