Nuke deal: LSP slams Mulayam

Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, July 3 (UNI) Loktantrik Samajwadi Party President Raghu Thakur today alleged that Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav was supporting the Congress on the 123 Indo-US Nuclear Agreement as he wanted to save himself and his brother from the Central Bureau of Investigation in the wake of Uttar Pradesh's police appointments scam.

''The Congress is blackmailing the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister. The Centre should annul the deal in the country's interest as the Agreement will fulfill a mere 0.2 per cent of our energy requirement. Abundant indigenous thorium reserves should be utilised as it is less polluting,'' he told journalists here.

Alleging that the decision to take back land allotted to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board was a suicidal step by the Congress, Mr Thakur added that the Prime Minister should convene an all-party meeting and should re-allot the land through Parliament.
