No impact of "Bharat Bandh" in Bengal
Kolkata, Jul 3 (UNI) The BJP-VHP sponsored 12-hour ''Bharat Bandh'' failed to have any impact in West Bengal today.
The bandh was called to protest cancellation of land, allotted to the Amarnath Shrine Board in Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said here that traffic was normal and all business establishments and financial institutions, including Banks, functioned as usual.
BJP state secretary Rahul Sinha said the bandh was total throughout the state, while it evoked mixed response in the city.
He said the party will organise a rally to protest the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board land acquisition issue at Central Kolkata on July 11 to be attended by central leaders.
Train services in the Sealdah division of Eastern Railway were disrupted this morning following the bandh.
