Mobile phone, ganja seized from undertrial prisoner

Tiruchirapalli, Jul 3: A mobile phone and 30 gm of ganja was seized from an undertrial prisoner at the Central Prison here, police said.

Police said the prisoner, Chandru alias Chandramohan (40) of Pudukkottai district, had been lodged in the prison in connection with a theft case. He was taken to Thirumayam court in Pudukkottai district yesterday to complete the routine judicial formalities in connection with the case.

When the prisoner was brought back to the central prison, the prison authorities, on suspicion, examined his footwear and found a mobile phone and the ganja, police said.

Police seized the contraband and registered a case.
