INTACH-Delhi ink pact to make Delhi a heritage city
New Delhi, Jul 3 (UNI) The Delhi Government today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) to work together on projects to make Delhi a heritage city.
As per the agreement, the city government would set up a Heritage Task Force with the Chief Minister as Chairperson, which will monitor the implementation of the projects.
While the Government would monitor activities to be undertaken by INTACH and provide it required support, INTACH would provide expertise and consultancy and assist the Government in formulating heritage-related architectural and urban design schemes and policies, formulate a comprehensive scheme for beautification and lighting monuments during the Commonwealth Games, undertake conservation-related projects assigned by the Government of Delhi.
It would also try to spread heritage awareness among the citizens through the media, heritage walks, addressing school and college students and training of guides.
The MoU was signed by Ms Sumati Mehta, Principal Secretary (Tourism) and S K Mishra, Chairman INTACH in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at the Delhi Secretariat.
