Students Cong calls of bandh

Puducherry,July 2(UNI)The Students Congress tonight called off the proposed bandh called here tomorrow.

Students Congress President Samraj, who was earlier suspended, in a statement tonight said the decision to call off the bandh was taken as the Lt Governor had asked the Chief Secretary to go on long leave. Moreover, Chief Minister N Rangasamy had assured to look into the matter and initiate suitable action,he added.

The Students Congress had called for a 12-hour bandh tomorrow to condemn Chief Secretary Rakesh Bihari for his alleged objectionable remarks against the Council of Ministers at a recent review meeting.

Mr Samraj was suspended for announcing the bandh without consulting the Congress Party leadership here.
