No security threat from Blackberry services: Telecom Secy
New Delhi, Jul 2 (UNI) The government today said there is no security threat from Blackberry e-mail services and it does not plan to shut down the services in the country.
''There is no threat from the Blackberry services,'' Telecom Secretary Siddharth Behura told reporters on the sidelines of a conference.
The Blackberry services had come under a scanner few months ago when it was felt that the services could be used by militants to send e-mails that cannot be tracked, and the government wanted Research-In-Motion (RIM) to install servers in India to help monitor traffic.
Commenting on 3G guidelines, Mr Behura said, ''the guidelines will be issued soon, there is no fixed deadline that I can tell right now.'' UNI PDT SG UCS1706
