Madurai Bench HC lawyers observe strike

Madurai, Jul 2 (UNI) Functioning of various courts, including civil, criminal and other judicial fora of the Madurai bench of Madras High Court was paralysed, following a day's strike observed by the lawyers, here today.

The lawyers resorted to the strike in protest against the alleged attempt to assault a High Court lawyer by the employees of Tollgate here and to condemn the police for not taking any action against the culprits, despite a complaint preferred by the lawyer.

Meanwhile, a section of lawyers blocked traffic on the busy Madurai-Tiruchirapalli National Highway, this afternoon. However, senior police officials intervened and assured the agitators of taking action against the culprits. Later, the lawyers withdrew their agitation.
