Congress blackmailing Mulayam for seeking support: JD(U)

Patna, Jul 02 (UNI) The JD(U) today alleged that the Congress was engaged in blackmailing former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Chief of Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav to get support in the event of the Left snapping ties with UPA government at the Centre on the issue of proposed Indo-US Nuclear deal.

National spokesman of the party and Rajya Sabha MP Shivanand Tiwari told mediapersons here that case relating to disproportionate asset had been registered against Mr Yadav in Uttar Pradesh.

The Apex court had ordered the case to be investigated by the CBI and it was creating a sort of phobia in the Samajawadi Party, he said adding the Congress was trying to grab the opportunity by seeking its support for survival in turn of hidden agreement on helping Mr Yadav in the case.

'' All efforts of the Congress for survival of the UPA government at the Centre on support of the Samajwadi Party and emerging victorious in the coming Lok Sabha electio will prove futile as the steep price rise of essentials is sure to pour cold water on all hopes of the Congress, '' Mr Tiwari maintained.

The JD (U) leader said the attempt of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to blame the states for rising prices of essentials was aimed at misleading the people on the issue.

The failure of the UPA government in taking appropriate measures to check the price rise was enough indication that the Centre was not sensitive on the issue, he added.
