AIMTC strike to badly affect Kerala badly: Chamber
Kochi, July 2 (UNI) Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry today cautioned that if the strike called by the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) continued indefinitely, it would adversely affect the interests of a consumer state like Kerala.
''Being a consumer state, we have to depend on supplies from other places to meet almost all our daily requirements and the movement of cash crop items to up-country markets will also come to a standstill, besides upsetting the Cochin Tea Auctions,'' Chamber President R Mohandas said, in a statement here today.
The Chamber also urged Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan to intervene in the matter to restore normalcy in truck operations.
Mr Mohandas said the unprecedented level of inflation had affected business operations and if the movement of essential commodities was stalled, the situation would be very grave.
