Vijaya Bank completes loan waiver and displays list of beneficiaries

Bangalore, July 1 (UNI) Public Sector Vijaya Bank has waived off farmers loan to the tune of Rs 217 Crore benefiting 70,000 farmers in its 578 branches under Central Government's Agriculture Debt Waiver and Debt Relief Scheme announced in the Union Budget 2008-09, Bank Chairman and Managing Director Prakash P Mallya said today.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that the Bank has displayed the list of the beneficiaries under the scheme.

Mr Mallya visited Gunjur Rural branch in the outskirts of city yesterday and verified the compliance at the branch with the modalities involved in completing the scheme and handed over Debt Waiver Certificates to the beneficiaries of the Scheme.

While interacting with the farmers he said that "interest of the farming community is uppermost in the Bank's agenda and we are committed to ensure successful implementation of the Scheme and make sure that all eligible farmers are issued fresh loans at the earliest." UNI MSP TS1739
