AP Govt initiates measures against spread of Chikungunya
Bangalore, July 1 (UNI) Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu today said his department had taken all measures to prevent and control Chikungunya, which is fast spreading in the state.
Mr Sriramulu told reporters here that he had instructed all the district administrations to set up 'Epidemic Control Mobile Teams' for epidemiological investigations and emergency control measures.
''As of now, the state has reported 2,491 suspected Chikungunya cases and 41 of them have been confirmed for Chikungunya,'' he said.
The department had strengthened surveillance, diagnosis and treatment and ensured provision of essential drugs and facilities for treatment. It had released funds for the programme and all the activities in this regard were being monitored at state level, he said.
He said the department had planned to introduce pre-paid post cards to draw the government's attention to the condition of government hospitals.
The Minister said the cards would be introduced from next month through various outlets, including Gram Panchayat offices, for the people to lodge their complaints directly with the Minister.
He said he would ensure action against the officials in 48 hours and set up a special cell for the purpose.
