Addressing a press conference at his residence here today, Mr Chaudhary, who remained MP for four terms from Hoshiarpur, said that according to the seat sharing arrangement between the BJP and SAD, the Anandpur Sahib segment should be contested by the latter.
Being a loyal worker of the party and keeping in view his services in the area, he was fully confident that the SAD leadership would definitely give him a chance to serve the people, he added.
He claimed that he had already discussed the issue with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal. He was one of the senior SAD leaders and had vast experience of Parliamentary affairs, he claimed.
Replying to a question, he said that according to the seat sharing arrangement between the SAD and BJP, the latter should be contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur. Since the Hoshiarpur seat had been declared reserved the claim of the BJP to another seat was not justified, he added while refering to this demand by a section fot BJP.
