Allahabad Bank prepares waiver list for borrowers

Kolkata, Jun 30 (UNI) Allahabad Bank has finalised a list of small, marginal and other farmers under the agricultural debt waiver and debt relief schemes, announced by Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram during the presentation of budget for 2008-09.

The exercise of finalising the list had been completed in all eligible 1679 branches of this public sector Bank as the deadline for such list was June 30.

The benefit of the waiver and relief accrued to the farm sector borrowers, especially to the small, marginal and other farmers, said a release of Allahabad Bank today.

Bank Chairman and Managing Director A C Mahajan, Executive Directors K K Agarwal and J P Dua today visited many rural branches of West Bengal to hand over personally the debt-waiver certificates to the eligible farmers.

Mr Mahajan and Mr Dua also distributed the certificates to the beneficiary farmers-borrowers of Barnanghata branch in South 24-parganas district.
