Youth gored to death in jallikattu
Tiruchirapalli, Jun 29 (UNI) A 25-year-old youth was gored to death and at least 100 were injured in a jallikattu (taming of bulls) here today.
The rural sport was organised by the Tiruchirapalli District unit of the DMK in connection with the birthday celeberation of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
While 30 of the injured were admitted to Government Headquarters Hospital (GHH), others were shifted to private hospitals for treatment.
Police said one of the injured N Subramanian of Surakottai in neigbouring Thanjavur district, succumbed to injuries at the GHH.
The condition of few others were said to be critical.
State Transport Minister K N Nehru had inaugurated the event.
