Rivers becoming turgid with teeming rains in UP
Lucknow, Jun 29 (UNI) People got a respite from the humid weather as heavy rainfall lashed most parts of Uttar Pradesh for the third consecutive day today.
The copious rainfall, however, adversely affected the normal routine of people by disrupting electricity supply and creating water-logging problem on roads.
According to the Meteorological department, several parts of the state witnessed heavy rains. Mukhlispur and Uska Bazaar recorded 21 cm rainfall each, followed by Kakrahi 16 cm, Bansi 15 cm, Basti 14 cm, Turtipar, Rigauli and Bardghat 9 cm.
Agra, Chillaghat, Banda, Chandradeepghat and Balrampur wintessed 6 cm rainfall each, while Varanasi, Mirzapur and Lucknow recorded 4 cm each. Fafamau and Ballia recorded lesser rainfall at 3 cm.
Meanwhile, flood threat continued to loom large on several districts of Uttar Pradesh, following incessant rainfall that were making several big and small rivers turgid.
Over six dams in Poorvanchal were facing threat due to swelling of Rapti, Gandhak and Budhi rivers.
