Gehlot condemns Raje government for delaying relief
Jaipur, Jun 29 (UNI) AICC General Secretary and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today slammed the Vasundhara Raje Government for not taking steps to provide relief to neutralise the impact of price rise.
Mr Gehlot said in a statement here that the Raje Government could have neutralised the effect of price rise and inflation by taking several preventive measures and providing concession and/or exemption on tax and cess on petroleum products.
State governments in several states, including BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Bihar, have already taken such measures.
However, despite BJP President Rajnath Singh's directives, the Raje Government had so far not taken necessary measures.
The former Chief Minister said Ms Raje was delaying a decision in this regard with an intention to draw maximum possible mileage by timing the announcement with ensuing Assembly elections.
The Congress leader alleged large-scale corruption in the ongoing campaign of transfers of state employees.
He also took serious exception to the state government's step of dropping anti-Congress pamphlets and publicity material by helicopter during the Gujjar agitation.
