Fire breaks out near Bhaktinagar Rly station

Rajkot, Jun 29 (UNI) A fire broke out in a cluster of hutments, near the Bhatkinagar Railway station here today.

According to fire-brigade sources, it engulfed tyres and other discarded items outside the hutments near the railway station. The Railway police had yesterday undertaken a demolition drive in the area to remove hutments on railway land.

Seven fire fighters were pressed into service to extinguish the flames.

No one was injured in the fire. However, situation was tensed at the site following demolition drive, the sources said.

Angry slum-dwellers indulged in stone-pelting at the Railway police personnel.

Rajkot Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dinesh Brahmbhatt rushed to the site along with a police team and normalcy was restored, police said.
