CM asks officials to expedite work on cable TV corpn

Chennai, June 29 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today directed officials to complete all works to ensure Arasu Cable TV Corporation started operations in Thanjavur District from July 15, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli and Vellore from August 15 and in Chennai on September 15.

At a high-level review meeting with officials today, Mr Karunanidhi took stock of the progress of work relating to the corporation.

During the meeting, he was informed the corporation was expediting work on digital head-end in Thanjvaur, Coimbatore, Vellore and Tirunelveli Districts.

The work is expected to be completed by July 15 in Thanjavur and arrangements are underway to enable local cable TV operators and sub MSOs provide cable TV connections.

Three pieces of digital head-end equipment landed in Chennai from France on 28 June and they would be transported to Thanjavur, Coimbatore and Vellore.

In response to an advertisement, as many as 10,000 applications had been received from various parts of Tamil Nadu from cable TV operators and MSOs to avail the corporation's services.

The corporation also held talks with various TV channels on the subscription to be paid to them and the amount to be collected from cable TV operators and Sub-MSOs, an official release here said.
