Christian priest arrested on conversion charge in MP
Barwani, MP, Jun 29: A Christian priest has been arrested on the charge of abetting conversion from Navalpur area in this district, police said.
''Following complaints by Hindu outfits and local people, a house was raided last night and priest Hatesingh Rawat was detained,'' Town Inspector Vijay Kumar Sisodia said.
The priest was arrested under the Freedom of Religion Act on the charge of abetting conversion through inducements. He had been arrested a few months earlier on the same charge.
Rawat, who hails from Jhabua, has been residing in Barwani since past many years. Earlier, after the priest was detained, several people reached the Kotwali police station and demanded releasing the priest, while complainants demanded his arrest.
