APCO targets Rs 250 crore turnover, plans exports
Hyderabad, Jun 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh state Handloom Weavers Co-Operative Society (APCO) Chairman M Sriramulu today said the Society has targetted a Rs 250 crore turnover this year as against Rs 170 crore last year.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the APCO has received a Rs 100 crore order to supply material from the state government this year. With this, the APCO's annual turnover would increase as compared to last year.
Stating that APCO was also planning to export handloom sarees and other materials to USA and UK in future, he said the Centre has allocated Rs 40 lakh for the state to set up a designer cell to prepare new designs and meet the requirement of importing countries.
APCO has exported handloom sarees worth Rs 5 lakhs to United Sttes of America last year as part of a study on the feasibility of exports in future.
Mr Ramulu said APCO outlets had been established in 26 states in the country. But a majoirty of them were not making profits, he added.
