Dismissal of Cong Govt in Pondy sought
Puducherry, Jun 28: The Federation of Puducherry Village Panchayat Presidents Associations(FPVPPA) demanded the dismissal of the Congress Government in the Union Territory as the administration had come to a standstill, following the "tussle" between Chief Minister N Rangasamy and the Ministers.
Addressing a press conference here, Federation President Jaganathan said telegrams in this regard would be forwarded to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
Disputing Ozukarai Municipality Commissioner N S J Jayabal's statement that the Chief Minister had arranged for the local body elections in the Union Territory after a gap of 38 years and devolved powers to the elected representatives, Mr Jaganathan said the local body elections were held on direction from the Madras High Court. Puducherry should have been the number one state in the country by this time, if at all the devolution of power had taken place, he added.
