Yet another feather in Shreedharan's cap

New Delhi, Jun 27 (UNI) Dr E Sreedharan, MD of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, has been awarded the coveted Lal Bahadur Shashtri National Award for excellence in Public administration, academics, management this year.

Former union minister and son of former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, Anil Shastri announced the award today.

Known as Metro Man for his contribution in the field of Modern Urban Mass transportation system, Dr Sreedharan put the Delhi Metro on the world map.

Mr Anil Shastri said the award is presented every year on the eve of the birth anniversary of Shastriji on October 1 by the President of India in Rashtrapati Bhawan.

It may be mentioned here that Dr Sreedharan is recipient of many prestigious awards besides Padma Sri in 2001 and Padma Vibhushan this year.
