TN Govt declares day's mourning in view of Manekshaw's death

Chennai, Jun 27 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government declared a day's mourning in view of the death of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, who passed away at the Military Hospital at Wellington in Nilgiris district of the State early today.

An official release here said in view of the mourning, all official functions, scheduled for today, stood cancelled and the National flag at Fort St George, housing the State Secretariat, would fly at half mast.

Educational institutions in Nilgiris district would remain closed for a day as a mark of respect for the hero of the 1971 Indo-Pak war that led to the liberation of Bangladesh.
