Row over cargo diversion at anchorage port resolved
Kakinada, Jun 27 (UNI) The row over the diversion of fertilizers from the anchorage port here was amicably resolved after port workers unions agreed to share the work on discharging the fertilizers at the Deep Water Port and anchorage port on 60:30 ratio basis, leaving the remaining 10 per cent to the Vinayaka Port Workers Union.
The row was resolved during a meeting last night, which was attended by representatives of all the port workers unions, shipping agents and the Kakinada Sea Ports Limited (KSPL), that runs the Deep Water Port, in the presence of East Godavari district Superintendent of Police Y Nagireddy.
The workers agreed to the diversion of the fertilizer cargo after the officials read out the latest GO issued by the Principal Secretary, Ports, directing the authorities to handle the fertilizers only at the Deep Water Port. The shipping agents left the choice to the workers' unions on sharing of the work at the Deep Water Port.
