Kerala Govt spends Rs 97 lakh on SC lawyer fees
Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 27: The Kerala Government has spent about Rs 97 lakh towards fees for Supreme Court lawyers for arguing its cases in the High Court, State Sports and Youth Affairs Minister M Vijayakumar said today.
In a written reply to Mr P C George (Kerala Congress-S), he said five lawyers from the Supreme Court had appeared for the Government in 52 cases.
Advocate Vaidyanathan had received the maximum fees of Rs 76,20,000, followed by Mr R Venkataraman Rs 8,45,338, Mr K K Anand 5,50,000, Mr Amarendrasharan Rs 4,20,000, Mr Debi Prasadpal Rs 2,50,000 and Mr Majumdar Rs 10,000, Mr Vijayakumar said.
However, the Government could win only two cases out of the 52, he added.
