HC issues notice to TN Bar Council Chairman
Chennai, June 27 (UNI) Madras High Court today ordered notice to the Tamil Nadu and Puduchery Bar Council Chairman on a petition filed by one of the Bar Council members D Selvam, challenging the Chairman's continuation in the post.
Justice Ramasubramanian directed Bar Council Chairman R K Chandramohan to file his counter by July 7.
In his petition, Mr Selvam submitted that at the time of Bar Council elections in 2005, there was an oral arrangement between him and Mr Chandramohan to share the Chairman's post for two and a half years each. However, Mr Chandramohan had refused to quit the post at the end of his two and a half years, to make way for him as per the agreement.
Mr Selvam also prayed the court for a direction to hold fresh elections to the Bar Council.
