Cong condemns attack on Kerala scribes
New Delhi, Jun 27 (UNI) The Congress today condemned the attack on three Kerala journalists, allegedly by pro-CPI(M) Students Federation of India (SFI) activists, and expressed hope that the state government would take action to check such violence.
''The attack on the journalists on Wednesday, allegedly by some political activists, does not have a role in civil society,'' Congress spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told reporters.
''We hope that the state government and the agencies responsible for law and order would take necessary action to check such type of violence,'' he said.
Three journalists, two of them from Manorama News, were injured as SFI workers attacked them while they were covering clashes between the students' organisation and pro-Congress students wing activists in Kottayam.
The SFI workers also stoned the Malayala Manorama office, damaging window panes of the daily's headquarters' building.
