Cong accuses Govt of for "groupism" in distributing relief

Kolkata, Jun 27 (UNI) Accusing the Left Front government of "groupism " in distributing the relief materials, Congress Legislature Party leader Manas Bhunia today said Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Irrigantion Minister Subhas Naskar would be responsible if any untoward incident took place in the flood-affected areas.

The Chief Minister had assured the all-party meeting that no "groupism or politics" would take place and had promised sufficient relief materials to be provided to the flood victims in East and West Midnapore districts.

But defying the Chief Minister's instruction, the CPI(M) cadres were indulging in "groupism" in distributing the relief material, Mr Bhunia alleged.

The government must make a "food bank" to provide foodstuffs and other relief materials to the affected people for the next six months, he demanded.

At least four million people had been affected and four lakh houses completly damaged, while 46 people had died so far in the devastating flood, he claimed.

'' We will raise the flood issue in the coming Assembly session,'' he said.
