Andhra Jyothi Editor, two reporters released on bail
Hyderabad, Jun 27 (UNI) Andhra Jyothi Editor K Srinivas and reporters Vamshi Krishna and T Srinivas, arrested under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act on June 24 night, were released today from Chenchalguda prison on bail, granted by a local court here.
The Special Court Judge granted unconditional bail to K Srinivas while the reporters were ordered to report before the Jubilee Hills police station every Monday.
The Editor and the two journalists were released from the prison after their Counsel submitted surety papers for the two reporters, approved by a local court judge, to the prison authorities.
The three journalists were arrested from the newspaper office based on a complaint lodged by Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) founder-president M Krishna Madiga that he was insulted when his effigy was slippered and burnt in a rally last month.
Talking to newspersons after emerging out of the prison, Srinivas said, ''it's the victory of struggle of media, social organisations and other unions over the government's attempt to stifle the voice of press.'' UNI AP VA LPB AS1806
