Notice ordered to Makkal TV
Chennai, June 24 (UNI) Madras High Court today ordered issuance of notice to Tamil satellite channel, 'Makkal TV', on a defamation suit filed by city Additional Commissioner of Police S R Jangid.
Admitting the petition, Mr Justice Ramasubramanian directed the channel to file its counter by July seven.
Mr Jangid, in his petition, sought a permanent injunction against the channel, restraining it from telecasting or publishing defamatory materials, totally unsubstantiated by facts and documents either with direct or indirect reference to him.
He submitted that the channel was linking him in a Government land transaction at Vadanemili village in Kancheepuram district and prayed for damages of Rs ten lakh.
