Faizabad court blast case heard inside district jail

Faizabad, June 24 (UNI) Hearing the November 23, 2007 Faizabad Court blast case inside the district jail compound, a special court today recorded the testimony of three wintesses.

The special court was temporarily set up inside the district jail premises due to security reasons.

Four accused terrorists -- Mohammad Mujahid, Tariq Kazmi, Mohammad Akhtar and Sazzadurehman -- were brought from Lucknow prison and presented before Additional District Judge (III) R K Gautam amid tight security.

The Court recorded statement of witnesses Purrushotam Pandey, Jai Prakash Pandey and Suresh Cahndra and fixed July 16 and 17 as the next hearing dates in the case.

Prosecution lawyer Shoaib alias Jamal Ahmed also submitted an application before the Court that his clients were being assualted in the Lucknow prison. The Court has sought a report from a senior police official of the jail in the regard.

On November 23, 2007, serial blasts had rocked Court' precincts of Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad cities in Uttar Pradesh.

At least four people were killed and 24 others wounded in Faizabad blast.
