Bardhan asks Naveen to reconsider POSCO Project
Bhubaneswar, Jun24 (UNI) CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan today urged Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to reconsider the POSCO project and cancel the MoU signed with the South Korea steel major three years back.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Bardhan said after three years of continued protest by the local people against the mega steel plant proposed by the POSCO, the Chief Minister should reconsider its decision.
The CPI leader said his party was not against industrialisation but opposed to any industry which would take away fertile land and allow the multinationl and big companies to plunder the resources.
Mr Bardhan said the party was also against the sanction of a captive port to POSCO by the state government as it would affect the business of the existing Paradeeo port.
The CPI leader also came down heavily on the Naveen Patnaik government for its failure in all front.
