ECoR plies special trains to carry relief materials to flood victims
Bhubaneswar, Jun 22 (UNI) Responding to the Orissa government's request, the East Coast Railway is plying special trains to carry relief materials for the flood victims.
ECoR General Manager A K Goyal said the trains plying since June 20 from Khurda Road to Contai Road via J K Road and Bhadrak would continue till June 30.
The Orissa government made the request after incessant rains flooded and marooned several areas of north Orissa. The relief materials could not reach the inaccessible areas, due to breaches occurred between Bakhrabad, Narayanagarha, Contai road and Khargapur.
Mr Goyal said six special relief trains had already left for Contai Road from Khurda Road and Bhadrak from June 19 to 22.
He said a decision had been taken to run one more Special Relief train between Bhadrak and Contai Road daily for ten days beginning today.
He added Railway administration had set up round the clock control room to provide information to the stranded passengers and extra refund counters at Puri, Khurda Road and Bhubaneswar stations for the convience of passengers.
Mr Goyal said he had already directed to open two more manual refund counters and three more enquiry counters each at these stations.
