SP to probe children's death in Kushinagar
Lucknow, Jun 21 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh main opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) has constituted a committee to probe into the death of three children, who fell ill after consuming spurious soft drink in Padrauna, Kushinagar on Tuesday.
The committee, constituted on the directives of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, would visit the bereaved family members on June 23 and submit its report by June 25, party sources said.
Besides, Baharaich MLA Waquar Ahamad Shah, who would lead the team, other members were MP Srimati Rubai Saida, former minister Brahmshankar Tripathi, MLA P K Rai, MLA Vishvanath Singh and Rajendra Singh Pahalwan.
On June 17, 35 children fell ill after consuming spurious drink under the brand label Pepsi in Khiriya Tola area of Padrauna town in Kushinagar district.
Later, three children succumbed during the coarse of treatment in hospital, following which District Magistrate Kushinagar Umesh Chandra Tiwari, four policemen and two health department employees were suspended for dereliction of duty.
