Singapore Trade Minister to visit India from June 23
Singapore, Jun 21: Singapore Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang will visit Delhi from 23 to 24 June 2008 to review the bilateral engagement with India. Kiang will also visit Mumbai during his visit, an official statement said. In Delhi, Kiang and his counterpart Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath will review Singapore's existing bilateral engagements with India including the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA).
CECA was implemented in 2005 to strengthen and deepen the economic relationship between the two countries. Kiang is also scheduled to meet leaders in Delhi and Mumbai and will also engage the business leaders in both the cities. In 2007, India ranked Singapore as 11th largest trading partner with total bilateral trade of 23.9 billion Singapore dollar, representing an increase of nearly 20 per cent over total trade between the two countries in 2006.
Kiang will be accompanied by officials from the Trade and Industry Ministry, International Enterprise Singapore and Economic Development Board.
