50 district labs to be upgraded across India
Chandigarh, Jun 21 (UNI) The Union Health Ministry has decided to upgrade and strengthen 50 district level laboratories in the country, including Karnal and Hisar in Haryana, to the regional level laboratories.
This was stated by Special Director General of Health Services and Integrated Disease Surveillance Project Director Shiv Kumar, while addressing the National level review meeting of the Project.
Mr Shiv Kumar said 50 Priority District Labs, including the Karnal and Hisar laboratories had been selected to be upgraded. One Microbiologist would also be appointed in each of the upgraded laboratories.
Appreciating the works of Haryana under the Integrated Disease Surveillance Project, Mr Shiv Kumar said due to strenuous efforts of the state government, it now ranked among the first four states of the country in the early detection of the disease outbreaks and thereafter reducing the morbidity and mortality owing to communicable diseases.
