Actress Roja and 10 other TDP activists surrender for belt shop ca

Tirupati, Jun 20 (UNI) The Telugu Desam Party's women's wing Telugu Mahila, led by actress-turned-president R K Roja, today surrendered before the Alipiri Police in connection with smashing of belt shop case registered against her on June 9.

Roja and 10 other TDP activists, including women, accompanied by a huge contingent of women, including several Telugu Mahila activists, had surrendered and later, they were released on bail.

On June nine, after holding angry demonstrations in front of the excise police station on the Kapila Theertham road here, Roja led the demonstrators to a belt shop in the Jeeva Kona area, inhabited mostly by the working class and broke it open using a crow-bar. She, along with party workers, flung out the liquor bottles and smashed them on the road.

After being released on bail, while talking to mediapersons, she said she was fighting against liquor belt shops for the interest of the women and poor families.
