Youth killed in police encounter in Haryana
Hisar, Jun 19 (UNI) A youth was killed in an encounter with police while two of his accomplices escaped after an exchange of fire with policemen in Miran village of Bhiwani district in Haryana, police said today.
The incident occurred late last night when the policemen tried to stop a pick-up van carrying three youths at a checkpost on Tosham road in Hisar district. The driver of the van, carrying two more youths, however, did not stop and instead tried to run over the policemen. The van crashed into the police barrier, broke it and rushed back in the direction it came from.
The police party chased the unruly youths who started firing at the policemen. When the pick-up van did not stop and the youths continued firing, the police also opened fire as they reached Miran village of the neighbouring Bhiwani district. In the ensuing encounter, one of the youths was killed while the two others fled the spot.
The deceased youth was later identified as Mahender of Garan village of Bhiwani district.
The Hisar police registered a case against the three youths for attempting to kill the policemen and obstructing the government employees from performing their duty.
