Higher prices force people to do without fish

Kolkata, June 14, 2008: The rise in food prices and other commodities has hit hard on everyone"s pocket. And now it has affected supply of Hilsa fish in Kolkata. The demand has gone down following sharp increase in price of the fish variety exported from Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh government has fixed the export price of Hilsa fish which is almost double than the rates at which it was imported till now.
