Second underground tunnel on C Sec-Gurgaon line breaks through

New Delhi, June 19 (UNI) The second underground tunnel being built for the proposed Central Secretariat Gurgaon section of the Phase II broke through today, three weeks ahead of schedule.

''The second underground Metro tunnel built by the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) brokethrough today at Hauz Khas at 1130 hrs, a spokesperson of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said.

This underground tunnels construction began in February this year and the distance of 1,453 m was completed in only four months time, the spokesperson said.

This tunnel is parallel to the first tunnel between Malviya Nagar and Hauz Khas which was completed on May 31. These two tunnels will permit to and fro movement of Metro trains which will run on the Central Secretariat - Gurgaon section of Phase II which will be opened to the public in 2010.
