Major fire in ICICI residential quarters, no casualty reported
Mumbai, Jun 19 (UNI) A major fire that broke out in the underconstruction residential quarters of ICICI Bank at Standard Mill compound in the crowded area of Prabhadevi here today.
However, there was no casualty.
The fire broke out at around 1830 hrs. About eight fire engines were pressed to douse the fire and it was brought under control after an hour, Chief Fire Officer of Mumbai Fire Brigade, Anil Sawant said. When the building caught fire, the workers vacated the building, he said.
However, according to eyewitnesses, they could hear many voices of people, making Mr Sawant voiced concern over some workers being trapped inside the building, as many were untraceable.
But, after the fire was brought completely under control with the help of eight fire fighters and water tankers, fire brigade officials ruled out any casualty in the mishap.
In the fire, the underconstruction building suffered uncalculated losses, which were recorded by the fire brigade officials.
Fire brigade officials have attributed the cause to short circuit, while not ruling out other reasons, which will be ascertained after the investigations are completed.
