Govt to computerise all ZP's in K'taka: Minister
Bangalore, Jun 19 (UNI) Karnataka Government has decided to computerise all the Zilla Panchayath offices with Internet facilities to ensure better coordination with the state government, minister for Panchayat Raj, Shobha Karandlaje said today.
Addressing a conference of the Presidents and Vice-presidents of all the 29 districts, she urged them to sink their political differences and works for the development of rural areas.
While expressing concern that over 15,000 villages in the state were deprived of access to potable water, another 21,000 were getting hard water with high fluoride content. The minister wondered where had the money, which was spent in large sums for the purpose of providing drinking water gone.
She said that government had given priority to ensure potable water to all and appealed the Panchayath heads to cooperate by joining hands with the state government.
The minister also said that providing better sanitation facilities to all the villages was among top priorities and sought the opinions of the elected representatives in providing community sanitation facilities in rural areas.
She also assured that government, while announcing new programmes and schemes, ensure that works on ongoing projects was not neglected.
