FM Rainbow to commence in Pondy on June 21

Puducherry, Jun 19: FM Rainbow, the FM Channel of All India Radio (AIR), will start its broadcast from Puducherry at 1800 hrs on June 21.

Informing this at a press conference here today, AIR Station Director (Puducherry) Kalyani Ramachandran said Chief Minister N Rangasamy, in the presence of Union Minister of State for Planning and Parliamentary Affairs V Narayansamy, Lok Sabha member M Ramadass and Prasar Bharthi Chief Executive Officer B S Lalli, would inaugurate the FM channel.

Unlike private FM channels, FM Rainbow would be totally different as programmes were made to cater the needs of all the sections of the society. Presently, it would cover an over of 40 km surrounding Puducherry and areas in Villupuram and Cuddalore districts of Tamil Nadu.

The channel, having a capacity of 3 kw, would be upgraded into a 10 kw channel in another six months, she said adding that it would be available on 102.8 frequency.
