Dasmunsi condoles Bangla journalist's death
New Delhi, Jun 19 (UNI) Minister of Information and Broadcasting P R Dasmunsi today condoled the death of well-known Bangla journalist Barun Sengupta.
''I am deeply shocked to hear the sudden demise of veteran Bangla journalist Barun Sengupta. In his death, he has left behind a huge void in the journalistic arena in general and in Bangla journalism in particular,'' he said in a message here.
Recalling the straightforwardness and fearless reporting of Mr Sengupta spanning across more than 50 years of journalism which began way back in 1957, he said he will be remembered as the founder editor of popular Bengali daily Bartaman Patrika which was started by him in 1984.
''Since then, this Bangla paper continued to grow under his editorship. It is to his credit that this paper is now being published from three places in West Bengal -- Kolkata, Siliguri and Burdwan. He continued to write for it till he fell ill a few days back,'' the Minister said.
''I condole his death and pray to Almighty for peace to his soul,'' he added.
