Congress rules out continuation of alliance with JD(S) in K'taka

Bangalore, June 19 (UNI) Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Mallikarjun Kharge today ruled out continuation of alliance with Janata Dal (Secular) for the coming Lok Sabha elections.

When his attention was drawn to a statement earlier in the day by Former Prime Minister and JD(S) National President H D Deve Gowda to the effect that the alliance between his party and Congress would continue for LS election also, Mr Kharge said that " the alliance reached was only for Rajya Sabha and Council election from the Assembly and continuation depends on the situation and decision of the High Command Sonia Gandhi." "We allied for this election since we did not wanted the ruling party to take advantage and nothing else and similar understanding were reached during earlier elections also and this does not mean that it is a permanent alliance," he added.
