Cong strong enough to fight elections: APCC
Hyderabad, Jun 19 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President D Srinivas today said the party had the strength to fight the next Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state on its own.
Speaking to mediapersons, after taking part in the celebrations to mark the birthday of AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, he said the Congress party would like to take along with its ''old friends.'' ''We are ready to align with any party, except the TDP and BJP,'' he pointed out.
However, the party was fully prepared to fight the next elections on its own strength if the situation warranted, he added.
On possible floating of a new party by matinee idol Chiranjeevi, he said there was no ''political vaccum'' as it existed when actor- turned politician N T Rama Rao formed the TDP.
It may be noted that the Congress party which fought the last Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state aligning with the CPI and CPI(M) on the one hand and the separatist TRS, got distanced from these parties over the last four years.
